Do you know what a Support Group is?
It’s a lifeboat to rescue you from the storm that’s engulfing you, and I’m talking from personal experience here.
There was a calmer time long ago when you didn’t need a Support Group, then suddenly BOOM!, an event happens that turns your life upside down. The storm is upon you.
Suddenly you need to become an expert in fields that you have very little knowledge, suddenly life changing decisions are required, and you feel inadequate, ill equipped and swamped.
Not only do you have to make critical decisions that effect the lives of loved ones, but you do it from a point of complete and utter exhaustion.
It dawns on you that there is no quick fix and you carry the burden alone.. until.
Until you make contact with the Support Group. Then you can let go of your emotions knowing you will be met with empathy and understanding.
Suddenly there is a ray of hope as you meet people further along the journey than you, who seem to be doing ok, maybe you think, just maybe, there is a way through this.
So you press on into the fatigue, living hour by hour, day by day, looking to build strategies and frameworks firstly to cope and then hopefully to thrive.
And when the setbacks come, you know you’re not alone and your Support Group friends are there for you.
So here’s to everyone who set up a Support Group to help others in need.
Here’s to everyone who willingly gives their spare time to make the Support Group function effectively.
Here’s to everyone who reaches out in love to help others.
To Support Groups everywhere and the people in them we say,
